TVR Grantura
Tuesday, June 12th, 2007In honor of the le Mans this weekend, going to be working on the 1961 TVR Grantura MKIIA. A little known fact is that a MKIIA TVR (of which approximately 400 were built) competed in the 1962 le Mans race. If I recall, the car only made it about 10 laps into the race before succumbing to engine failure. I can only imagine what it must have been like to do a running le Mans start, and then squeeze into the diminutive car to start the race. In any case, we’re trying to get the car roadworthy to be able to register it for the road, and perhaps taking to the annual Pacific Northwest Historics June 29th-July 4th.
I believe fewer than a dozen of the cars in in running/driving condition today, so it is good thing to keep one more on the road.
