Just Got In
It looks like posting updates to twitter and the blog aren’t going to be a problem, as Internet cafes and WiFi have been plentiful.
When the sun comes up I’ll try to get some pictures of this city–truly amazing. It is almost 6:00am and there are big street markets going on, lots of westerners and locals partying at the pubs & bars.
Taxi ride from airport was largely uneventful, but seening how and what some folks ‘drive’ was true entertainment. I can’t wait to see how ridiculous it is during the daytime.
Was suprised to see some really nice, clean custom Honda Civics (new ones) driving around. Was equally suprised to see riced-out taxicabs complete with spoilers, body kits, racing stripes and cat-back exhaust systems.
Have been up for well over 30 hours after my connecting flight in Tokyo was delayed for 5 hours. Having to make a tough decision: do I iron-man it to tonight and reset my clock or try to get a nap in–which may turn into full-on 12 hour mini-coma.
Mind is saying “Iron Man”, body is saying “Nap”. Not sure which will win.

So did you catnap in one of those sleep-pods at Narita?
(They always looked a little claustrophobic-inducing to me, but hey, if you don’t sit up too fast, they’re probably fine, like a cozy body bag or something.)
Anyway, enough about a lay-over…where are the picts?
Chomping a bit on the bit here. Okay, not really chomping, but certainly a little curiosity and healthy envy.
Ah, you get to absorb, be in a different culture: Eat food that may poison you but will taste delicious (or horrible, but what an experience), and smell the environment, taste, listen to the unfamiliar, meet people, watch, admire structures old and new, touch (whatever you want, you’re on vacation), absorb, be tactile…. god (with however many arms are appropriate), sounds good.
(wow…bit bossy here, but good advice, if I do say so.)

ea: I was hoping it would be those little pods, but was actually these “day rooms” which is like a tiny hotel in the airport, only for daytime naps. We have no domestic equivilant.
heather: thanks!
